Have a Look at Aurora: Zenvo’s Latest Hybrid Supercar (PDF)

Zenvo, the renowned Danish supercar automaker, has recently brought its latest masterpiece to light, the V-12 Hybrid Aurora, during Monterey Car Week.
This high-performance vehicle is offered in two distinct versions: the track-oriented Agil and the road-focused Tur, each boasting hybrid powertrains that deliver either 1450 or 1850 horsepower.

Introducing The Supercar Aurora

Zenvo, a developing Danish supercar manufacturer known for its limited-production, visually striking mid-engine supercars like the TSR-S with its distinctive, movable rear wing, has introduced its latest creation at the prestigious Monterey Car Week. Named the Aurora, this hypercar combines a V-12 engine with hybrid technology to create a vehicle that the company claims to be its lightest and most powerful road car yet.

The Aurora features a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, boasting a dry weight of less than 3197 pounds. Under its hood, you’ll find a quad-turbocharged 6.6-liter V-12 engine, capable of revving up to 9800 rpm and generating a jaw-dropping 1250 horsepower. This remarkable engine, developed by Mahle Powertrain, adopts a “hot-V” configuration, placing the turbochargers between the cylinder banks.

The Aurora comes in two distinct versions—the Tur, designed for comfortable on-road driving, and the Agil, crafted for aggressive track performance. Each version pairs the V-12 engine with a different hybrid system. The Agil, equipped with rear-wheel drive, incorporates a single 200-hp electric motor, pushing the total power output to 1450 hp.

In contrast, the Tur boasts all-wheel drive, thanks to two additional 200-hp electric motors at the front wheels, resulting in an impressive 1850-hp setup. This hybrid system also finds its way into the Agil, producing a combined 1254 pound-feet of torque, while the rear-drive configuration generates a total of 1033 pound-feet of torque.

Power is efficiently transmitted through a seven-speed gearbox that houses the rear-mounted electric motor and can be controlled using paddle shifters located behind the steering wheel. The Tur’s transmission is optimized for smooth gearshifts, while the Agil’s gear changes are described as more “mechanical” in nature. Additionally, the transmission features an electronic differential, with the front electric motors serving as a torque-vectoring system.

What Each Model Has to Offer

Both models showcase distinctive aesthetics—the Tur is characterized by its sleek and aerodynamic design, while the Agil is adorned with a multitude of aerodynamic elements. Zenvo asserts that the Agil, with its weight of 2866 pounds, can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in an estimated 2.5 seconds and achieve a speed of 186 mph in just 10 seconds on its way to a top speed of 227 mph.

On the other hand, the Tur, while less focused on track performance, offers a more luxurious interior and its streamlined profile helps it reach 60 mph in 2.3 seconds, shaving a second off the sprint to 186 mph, with a claimed top speed of 280 mph.

The Agil’s straight-line performance may be affected by its substantial rear wing, which can shift forward to act as an air brake, providing additional downforce when decelerating for corners. Zenvo claims that the Agil’s splitter, diffuser, and wing collectively generate 1940 pounds of downforce at 155 mph.

The Agil’s interior is notably more minimalist compared to the Tur, featuring lightweight upholstery for the seats and doors, with glimpses of the carbon-fiber chassis visible. In contrast, the Tur’s cabin exudes a more refined ambiance, with added soundproofing to enhance its grand tourer appeal.

Few Items Available

Zenvo has plans to produce only 50 units of each Aurora model, with production slated to commence in 2025 and initial deliveries expected in 2026. While the exact pricing remains undisclosed, it is safe to assume that the Aurora will come with a significant price tag, following the footsteps of its predecessor, the 2019 TSR-S, which commanded a hefty $1.6 million price.
